Smart Ring

Smart Ring

A small ring-shaped electronic device worn on the finger that can track health data or make payments.

In Simple Terms

A smart ring is a small ring-shaped device you wear on your finger to track your body's condition or handle various tasks. It's smaller and lighter than a smartwatch, so it can comfortably track things like sleep quality and heart rate even while you sleep. Some models also let you make contactless payments by tapping a reader, or unlock your front door.

Behind the Name

The name combines smart, meaning clever, with ring, the piece of jewelry worn on a finger. Just like with smartphones, smart here signals that the device isn't just decoration - it has data communication and computing features built in.

Take a Closer Look!

A smart ring is a small electronic device shaped like a ring.
Sensors and communication components are built into the band, so simply wearing it on your finger lets it measure body data or perform various functions. It's designed to be worn just like everyday jewelry.

Smart rings generally fall into two types: health-tracking rings and payment/key rings.

Health-tracking rings record things like heart rate, changes in skin temperature, and sleep quality, then send that data to a smartphone app.
Because they're lighter than a smartwatch and less noticeable while you sleep, they're well-suited for continuous, long-term data collection.
Without a screen, they also use less power, so a single charge can often last several days.

Payment and key rings, on the other hand, have no battery or sensors - they contain an IC chip powered by the reader's radio signal.
They never need charging and can be used to make contactless payments in stores or unlock compatible smart locks.

Some models combine both of these functions into a single ring.
