Ensemble learning is a technique that combines multiple prediction models to produce one overall prediction. It's used in tasks like image classification, where the opinions of several models are combined to boost accuracy. Because each model has its own weak spots, having other models cover for them reduces the overall error rate.
Behind the Name
Ensemble comes from French, meaning "together" — think of a musical ensemble, where multiple performers play as one unit. Paired with "learning," the name reflects how this technique brings several models together, like musicians in an ensemble, rather than relying on just one.

Ensemble learning is a technique that makes predictions by combining multiple machine learning models.
Instead of relying on the judgment of just one model, it can improve prediction accuracy by pooling the opinions of several models.
Think of it like asking a whole panel of experts to vote, rather than relying on a single expert's opinion.
For example, to classify whether an animal in a photo is a dog or a cat, one approach is to create several resampled datasets by randomly drawing from the original data with replacement — a separate one for each model — train each model on its own resampled dataset, and then decide the final answer by majority vote.
This approach is called bagging, and it helps reduce extreme misjudgments.
Another approach, called boosting, trains each new model to focus specifically on the mistakes the previous model made.
By reinforcing weak points one after another, even models that perform poorly on their own can combine to achieve very high accuracy.
In this way, getting multiple models to work together significantly boosts the accuracy of data analysis and AI predictions.
