Echo Chamber refers to the phenomenon where connecting mostly with people who share your own opinions on social media leads you to believe that a particular way of thinking is correct. For example, if you keep seeing posts that agree with your view on a certain news story, it can start to feel as though no opposing opinions exist at all. This is known as a phenomenon in which opinions become increasingly skewed within a closed-off environment.
Behind the Name
The English word "echo" means a reverberating sound, and "chamber" means a room. Put together, they form the image of a room where sound echoes back and forth - capturing the way your own voice reverberates around you inside a closed room.

Echo Chamber refers to the phenomenon of being exposed mainly to opinions and values similar to your own on social media and across the internet, to the point where you come to believe those views represent the correct opinion of society as a whole.
As the internet has spread, it has become easy for us to gather only the information and opinions we already like.
The main reason this happens is that on social media, people tend to choose to follow others who share similar opinions and viewpoints, or to join specific communities built around those views.
Through these personal choices, an environment forms where you're surrounded almost entirely by people who think the same way you do.
On top of that, humans have a natural tendency to seek out information that backs up what they already believe. As a result, opposing viewpoints stop showing up at all, and biased ways of thinking keep getting reinforced.
This can lead to problems such as becoming convinced of extreme views or losing the ability to accept other people's opinions.
